is the title of an exposition composed of the works by renowned artists of Turkmenistan and their young successors - students and graduates of the State Academy of Arts where the vernisage that became some kind of reflection on further development of modern art was arranged.

Annadurdy Almamedov’s works are in the focus of the exposition. An insatiable thirst for life, ardent and heated love for nature and people, the desire to taste life in all its multifaceted manifestations are entwined into his paintings with the invisible threads. The simplicity and clarity of his art understandable to each viewer come from these features of the artist’s character. His works tell about the joy and happiness that the sun, the sky, labour and peace on the earth give to people. The artist conveyed the basic features of his individual creative outlook to his apprentices. He not only gets them acquainted with the fundamentals of the profession, but also carefully fosters an individual artistic style in each of his students.

The visitors could take a fresh view of the works by the renowned artists, including Kamil Veliahmedov, Ovezmuhammet Mametnurov and the others, recognizing their motifs and the individual features in the creative interpretations of young successors. A diversity of themes, techniques and solutions surprise and gladden. Though each of the works is performed in an individual style, an artistic vector assigned by the teacher can be seen in any sphere chosen by his students. The charm of a branch of pomegranate bent down by the weight of the fruit is difficult to resist. The colourful sunsets will leave nobody indifferent. As if suddenly a farewell beam illuminates a lone house and the crowns of trees standing lonely by the roadside. And one can feel sweet sadness, nearly inexplicable cheerfulness that can be felt by the sensitive souls.

The works by a sculptor Saragt Babaev has the different lofty ideas. The subjects of his compositions reflect the artist’s aspiration for revealing the bright, strong characters, big and important events. He hasn’t ignored the trends in modern art but he was able to interpret them in his realistic vision in a peculiar way. The sculptor not only shares his great professional experience to his students, but also conveys the noble ideas adding patriotic pathos and social significance to the art above all.

The teacher’s experience has an impact on his students’ skills. They work with marble, stone, bronze, wood, and each of their new sculptures is like a continuation of the renowned artist’s creative work. Many of the student’s works could be an adornment of a modern urban landscape. The young artists’ diploma theses amaze with the naturalness of the characters. The Preparations for Festivities by V. Narbaev is penetrated with an atmosphere of holidays. The subtle artistic flair helped the artist to capture and reflect the colourful national traditions in the metal sculpture which depicts two boys, a teenager and his little friend hurrying to bring the main attributes of the festivities – a big kettle and a large spoon for plov which the little child is carrying on his shoulder. Ch. Amanov’s work The Peaceful Sky evokes nostalgia for the childhood in many of us. There was pigeon-house in nearly every yard a, and to race pigeons, feed, tend and cherish them was the best pastime for boys. The artist shows this passion in his work depicting two mischievous children who have forgotten about their classes and are racing pigeons. The boys’ faces shine with the joy and happiness of a carefree childhood. The wind from the pigeons’ wings as if touching your face carries you away to carefree childishness.

Saragt Babaev says that apprentices always keep their teacher in creative vigour, and the more skilful their works are, the bolder and more interesting the teacher’s workmanship becomes. Masters love and take care of their students, impart their endless love of Art, Nature and Life to them. And apprentices make their masters happy with their bright achievements, for the art lives only when an apprentice surpasses his teacher as oriental popular wisdom says.
