Cotton growers in Ahal Velayat reported on the fulfillment of their contractual obligations on cotton production. They picked and delivered 205,000 tons of ‘white gold’ to the receiving points. They gained this labour victory after farmers in Balkan and Mary Velayat.
This is a worthy result of agricultural workers’ efforts. Ahal farmers sown a major part of the 120,000-hectare area with the medium-fibre cotton varieties that are best adapted to local conditions such as 133, Yoloten-7 and the fine-fibre variety 9871-I.The use of a science-based and tested approach and taking account of local soil and climatic conditions of each region allowed Turkmen farmers to reap a good yield.
Of 9 etraps of the regions cotton growers in Baharly Etrap picked the largest amount of raw cotton. Farmers in Babadayhan, Serahs, Tejen, Geokdepe and Altyn Asyr Etrap fulfilled their contractual obligations in a proper manner.
To mark this remarkable event local musical, dance and folk groups performed a concert at the cultural centre in Ruhabat Etrap.
