According to decision taken on December 5 meeting of CIS heads of state in Ashgabat, Mary passes the baton to Azerbaijani city of Gabala, Armenian Gyumri and Belarusian Mogilev.
During the speeches was highlighted the positive role undertaken in modern Turkmenistan scale progressive reforms conducive to the study of the glorious history of the Turkmen people, conservation and presentation of his material and spiritual heritage, promotion of research, bringing to them the leading experts from other countries. Speakers noted the increasing prestige of our country on the international scene.
In the afternoon they visited the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Ancient Merv" and got acquainted with the unique monuments the Mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar and the ancient fortress Gyzgala. Impromptu Turkmen village was pitched in the immediate vicinity of the fortress Gyzgala. The guests enjoyed a yurt sweet tea and traditional Turkmen sweets.
Familiarity with the rich heritage continued in the velayat of Regional History Museum, the funds of which are now more than forty thousand exhibits the monuments of history, culture and art of the Turkmen people.
It was completed with a rich cultural program of events visit the Mary velayat library. Participants were looking at many halls of the library and its hardware with a great interest. The particular interest was the observatory which is under the dome of the palace of knowledge.
