The construction the new international airport of which will start in Ashgabat in January 2013. It will be designed to service 1,600 passengers per hour.
The construction of ultra-modern air port entrusted Turkish company "Polimeks". On its account already is construction of an international airport of Turkmenbashi and other large objects. Contract to design and build AEROCOMPLEX landscaping of the adjacent territory to the contractor will enter into a State National Service "Türkmenhowaýollary".
The decision to build was made at an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. As stated it will provide the successful implementation of the objectives of the "Program of the President of Turkmenistan on the socio-economic development for 2012-2016" for the development of air transport, further improving the culture of service to passengers, increase the number of international flights, the safety of air travel. Pass complex international airport to be commissioned in August 2016.
