The ceremony of laying a foundation of a new International airport took place in Ashgabat.
The project developed by Turkish Polimeks Insaat Taahhut we Sanayi Ticaret A.S. envisages that the new complex will have the new passenger terminal with the handling capacity of 1,600 passengers per hour, freight terminal, VIP-terminal and 3,800-metre landing strip, taxi tracks, parking and ramp for aircrafts as well as a traffic control tower. Moreover, the existing ground-based infrastructure will be reconstructed. The total area of the new air terminal will occupy 1,200 hectares.
72-meter traffic control tower will be ‘a brain centre’ of the flight control system and a bright dominant of the airport architectural ensemble. All favorable conditions for passengers arriving in Ashgabat and flying on domestic and international flights will be created in the five-storey building of the air terminal.
