The presentation of the books Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan, The Flight of the Winged Horses and Turkmenistan is the Land of Healing of the President of Turkmenistan, Academician of the Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Economics Professor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov translated in the Chinese language, which one of the UN official languages, was conducted in the Chinese capital.
The presentation timed to the Turkmen leader’s state visit to the People’s Republic of China brought together the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education, the China-Central Asia Friendship Association and other officials of the People’s Republic of China, the members of the Turkmen government delegation, who had arrived in Beijing during the visit of the leader of the Turkmen state, journalists and Turkmen young people who studied in China.
The Turkmen leader’s works published in Turkmen, Russian, English and other languages have provided millions of readers all over the world with a unique opportunity to learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people an integral part of which is the glorious medical and horse breeding traditions in independent neutral Turkmenistan in the present historical epoch.
In the foyer of the Fang Fei Yuan complex of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Turkmen cultural and art workers performed national melodies and songs and a book exposition composed of the works by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Turkmen, Chinese, English, Russian, German, French, Turkish and other languages was arranged. These included the publications well known in our country and abroad such as The Living Legend, Ahalteke Horses are Our Pride and Glory, Turkmenistan is the Land of Healing, A Good Name is Imperishable, Towards New Heights of Progress and many others. Among the books which aroused keen interest of visitors were the priceless pieces of Turkmen classical poetry and modern art and scientific works.
Speaking at the presentation, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov, Chairman of the China-Central Asia Friendship Association (CCAFA) Zhang Deguang, Vice Minister of Education Liu Limin and other ceremony participants in emphasized that due to mutual efforts of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of China Hu Jintao friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries, including in the humanitarian sphere had been intensified. In this regard the presentation would contribute to strengthening further fruitful cultural and scientific contacts between Turkmenistan and China.
The translation of the book by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan in the Chinese language was made under supervision of Assistant Professor of the Foreign Languages College of the Peking University. The specialists of the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Euro-Asian-American Study of traditional medicine were involved in the preparation of the Chinese version of the Turkmen leader’s book for publication.
The unique encyclopaedia of medicinal herbs of Turkmenistan and folk phytotherapy will certainly arouse a huge interest among Chinese health care professionals and experts in Chinese medicine the origins of which like that of the Turkmen people evolve from the centuries-old traditions of folk healers ad are based on the use of natural medicines. This book is to give a new impetus to promote pharmaceutical science oriented towards manufacture of medicaments from natural materials by applying the principle of synthesis of centuries-old traditions and modern innovations in medical practice, emphasized presentation participants.
