The winter wheat sowing campaign successfully finished in Turkmenistan. It is planned to gather 1.6 million tons of bread-grain next year on 860,000 hectares sown with wheat, including 450,000 tons in Ahal Velayat, 380,000 tons in Mary Velayat, 350,000 tons in Lebap, 300,000 tons in Dashoguz and 120,000 tons in Balkan.
The agricultural fleet including 650 John Deer, Case, Belarus 1221 ploughing tractors, over 380 corn planters, over 2,000 MTZ-80X tractors and 120 MTZ-82.1 were engaged in the sowing campaign. High-yielding wheat varieties such as Sahrai, Juvan, Batko, Yubileynaya-100, Yoloten-1, Turkmenbashy-1 and Bitarap that proved to be high-yielding in soil and climate conditions of the regions of the country have been sown this year.
Today the crops have started sprout up and the works to care for them have been launched. Grain growers in Turkmenistan have started vegetative irrigation, mineral fertilizers application and weed control activities. Thus, the first stage of the important agricultural campaign has been completed.
The measures taken to modernize the agro-industrial sector contribute to raising agricultural output on a regular basis. Through the prudent and effective reforms taking place in the agro-industrial sector, the efficiency of agricultural production has been significantly enhanced. All of this has enabled Turkmenistan to rank among bread-grain exporting countries.
