The First International Cotton Fair finished its work in the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat.
The International Conference entitled “Cotton Industry of Turkmenistan and World Market” focused on important issues related to the current state and prospects for producing, processing, selling, consuming and raising the level of cotton yield in the world, international cooperation, and adoption of scientific and technological advances in agricultural production and modernization of industrial infrastructure of the agricultural sector.
Those speaking during the conference including Ray Butler, Chief Editor, Manager of the Cotton Outlook International Agency, Kai Hughes, Managing Director of the International Cotton Association, Jia-Hong Wang, Deputy General Secretary of the China Cotton Association, Krishnan Ramamurthy, Consultant of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Robert John Carter, President of the Сentral Cotton Company LTD and Galina Fisher, Editor of Cotton Outlook International Agency for CIS countries and other participants highly evaluated positive results of the agricultural policy of the Turkmen state, including effective steps taken to modernize the agricultural sector and produce high quality raw cotton which is a valuable product on the world cotton market.
Forum participants visited the modern textile enterprise in Ruhabat Etrap, Ahal Velayat. The factory which was the first textile facility put into operation in the country produces yarn from cotton and synthetic fiber which is of high demand in domestic and world markets.
