Scientists and specialists of the Institute of Oil and Gas of “Turkmengas” State Concern celebrated the jubilee – the 20th anniversary since creation of the research and planning institute, which realizes the works on geological prospecting, development and exploitation of deposits, projects for boring, development and reconstruction of practically all facilities of gas sector.
Having studied in detail the gas and gas-condensate fields of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen scientists – geologists, geophysicists, drilling technicians, designers and technologists have introduced numerous large projects on finding, prospecting, development and production of gas resources of the country. The results of nearly 100 research works were recognized as inventions and protected with patents of Turkmenistan. At present, the development of all gas and gas-condensate fields of Turkmenistan is realized in accordance with projects well-grounded scientifically by the Turkmen scholars and specialists. As an example it is possible to give the deposits Dovletabat, Malay, “Garashsyzlygyn 10 yillygy”, Yelguyi, Bagaja, Gurrukbil-Garabil, “Galkynysh” and many others.
New building was erected for the Institute. Its laboratories and planning shops are fitted with up-to-date technique, exploratory apparatuses, satellite navigation system for identification of coordinates of the wells. At present, it is carried out works on geological modeling of areas and deposits, created digital geological models of the fields “Yashlar”, “Galkynysh” and others. It was considerably increased the quality of laboratory researches while study of corrosion, composition and properties of gas and condensate, technical diagnostics of gasfield equipment, drilling and cement grouts. Introduction of the methods of instrumental analysis of soil, water and air as well as software support package “Ecologist” increased the estimation quality of impact on environment, development of the projects of norms of maximum permissible emissions of the enterprises.
The Institute annually realizes the analysis and generalization of results of prospect drilling on areas of “Turkmengeology” State Corporation and dynamics of the balance change of reserves of gas, condensate and other useful components in the fields of “Turkmengas” State Concern. The Institute has recommended several new prospected areas for exploration. They will allow increasing the hydrocarbon potential of the country. On the basis of analysis of a large volume of geologic-geophysical information, it was formed new geological model of Yelguyi field. According to this model, it was counted and augmented the initial gas reserves by over 30% that allows increasing the volume of annual natural gas production of the deposit up to 1 billion cubic meters. Analogous work has been realized at “Garashsyzlygyn 10 yillygy” field put into development in 2001. Expected growth of reserves comes to over 20%, which will also increase the volume of annual natural gas production in the field by billion cubic meters.
In the current year, the scientists and specialists of the Institute jointly with “Gaffney, Cline & Associates” Company (Great Britain) worked at improvement of digital geologic-hydrodynamic model of “Galkynysh” deposit created on the basis of high-technology software support “Petrel-Eclipse”. On the basis of renewed geologic-hydrodynamic model of the well, it was prepared scientific recommendations on quantity, structures and optimal placing of production wells on this deposit.
At the same time, it was conducted the scientific-technical activity on securing effective drilling of wells of “Galkynysh” field, having unique mining and geological conditions. Main difficulty while construction of wells on “Galkynysh” is the preservation of a large diameter of flow string for getting maximum output of gas. This task is solved owing to combination of several incompatible intervals on conditions of construction – drilling of saline strata with lower productive seventh horizon.
In the field of national gas processing, it was prepared technological tasks for designing of three gas-chemical complexes – on deep processing of natural gas extracted from Bagaja field, deposits of the Central Garagum as well as sea coast. These modern installations will allow getting wide spectrum of progressive products with high value added – polymers, synthesized fiber and other materials.
At present, with participation of the specialists from Ukraine, the Institute realizes the designing of two compressor stations with capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year for East-West gas pipeline and expansion of compressor station “Bagtiyarlyk” from 20 till 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Moreover, for increase of gas deliveries to China, it was implemented the project of loping of existing Malay-Bagtiyarlyk gas pipeline, which allows raising in this direction the carrying capacity of transport system up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
