The implementation of the ambitious investment project aimed at increasing oil production and enhancing the gas export potential of the country has been completed in Balkan Velayat. A gas lift compressor station with the annual capacity of about 1 billion cubic metres, which will collect associated gas in Keimir gas field, was put into operation.
The high-ranking officials of the oil and gas departments, specialists of the subdivisions of the Turkmennebit State Concern, representatives of the administration and citizens of Esenguly Etrap in Balkan Velayat participated in the opening ceremony of the Keimir gas lift compressor station.
The Turkmennebit State Concern has launched the large-scale work to achieve the aims and objectives of the oil and gas industry development programme for the period until 2030. Consistent measures are taken to strengthen the material and technical basis of the industry, renew fixed assets and build modern industrial enterprises which use the latest technologies and engineering innovations.
The project promoting the efficient use of hydrocarbon resources of Esenguly Etrap is a new step to implement the programme.
The Keimir gas lift compressor station supplied with state-of-the-art equipment meets the highest international standards. It is automated and autonomous. All the processes are managed remotely and centrally with the help of packaged software and electronic equipment.
The station has three turbocompressor units - two operational units and one reserved unit – which ‘compress’ gas, increasing gas pressure many times. The industrial complex, the total cost of which is over US$ 135 million, has the gas treatment, separation and cooling systems, measurement units, gas turbine and diesel power plants, transformer substation, desalination unit with the daily capacity of 50 cubic metres, boiler room and other facilities. Balkanabat-Chekishler mobile communication system was assembled in the region. A hostel which accommodates 20 workers and a canteen are built for the personnel of the station.
The construction of the Keimir gas lift compressor station enables to fulfil an important task – industrial use of associated petroleum gas which used to be burnt in flairs. Henceforth, associated petroleum gas will be used to intensify oil production, in particular in gas lift wells. If necessary, the compressor station will also supply pollution-free fuel to Turkmenistan-Iran gas pipeline via the gas treatment unit in Akpatlauk gas field located in close proximity to Keimir.
