With a view of successful realization of “Program of the President of Turkmenistan on socio-economic development of the country within 2012-2016”, rational use of land, water, agricultural machinery and mineral fertilizers as well as further increase of the cotton production volumes on the basis of control of the high quality of land treatment, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Resolution.
In 2014, the area of 545 thousand hectares all over Turkmenistan will be sown with cotton. From these fields, it is planned to yield 1050 thousand tons of cotton. Cotton seeds will be realized for etraps taking into account soil-climatic conditions in accordance with plan approved by the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the special Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, “Turkmenpagta” State Concern, and governors of Akhal, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary provinces were assigned to provide sowing and harvesting.
On the basis of contracts made with cotton producers and in the terms corresponding with the agrotechnical norms, it was assigned to “Turkmenbagta” State Concern to provide due volumes of seeds, “Turkmenobahyzmat” State Association – technical services connected with preparation of lands for sowing, cotton sowing, care of them and cotton harvesting, the Ministry of Water Economy - appropriate volumes of water for irrigation, “Turkmenhimiya” State Concern – proper volumes of fertilizers.
With a view of successful continuation of reforms in the agriculture of the country, distribution of the agricultural crops in accordance with soil and climatic conditions of the provinces and etraps, increase of efficiency of use of lands by conduction of science-based crop rotation, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Resolution, having approved the plan of distribution of agricultural crops on provinces in 2014.
