The meetings held on the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat brought together the cabinet ministers and the khyakims of velayats and etraps. The agenda focused on the issues relating to further development of the regions in the context of the long-term tasks set by the Turkmen leader at the January 10 enlarged government meeting.

The key aspects of the state strategy include the development of the regions of the country. The universal model of rural areas and agro-industrial etraps has taken concrete shape in the framework of this programme. Moreover, the task to modernize the agro-industrial sector through developing industrial infrastructure, ensuring an abundance of food products, saturating the domestic consumer market with a wide range of quality products and creating new jobs are set before the velayats of the country.

In this regard, the meeting participants discussed the priority measures to be taken to fulfill the assigned tasks. Emphasis was placed on the importance of conducting analysis to draw up detailed action plans for further development of the regions, which should incorporate the recommendations made by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the enlarged government meeting as well as the objectives of the long-term industrial and regional programmes.
