860 thousand hectares have been allotted under winter wheat. In this year, the Turkmen farmers plan to yield a harvest from these areas in 1 million 600 thousand tons of wheat. These days, agricultural campaign on care of sowings has been expanded widely on the wheat fields of the country.
It is continued the complex measures aimed at stimulation of active growth and development of shoots. The works are carried out in the fields on additional fertilizing of soils with mineral and organic fertilizers, struggle against weeds, vegetative irrigations. As a whole, over thousand tractors with sprinklers, trailers and other additional technique set in motion on the fields.
Sowing campaign has been completed at end of November of the last year. In the course of this campaign, over 198 thousand tons of seeds of 16 soft and solid wheat sorts – new and traditionally cultivated in various regions have been sown into soil. Among traditionally cultivated sorts are “Sahrai”, “Yoloten-1”, “Bitarap”, “Juvan”, “Turkmenbashi-1”, “Yoloten-3”, “Batko”, “Jubilee-100” and others. These wheat sorts are resistant to the low temperatures and differ by early maturation, good crop capacity, quality and disease-resistance.
National sorts as “Miras’ and “Akbash”, which were introduced into crop rotation in the last year, were good as well. Sorts of Stavropol selection – “Nota”, “Irishka” and “Vassa” proved good adaptation to local soil and climatic conditions. Their cultivation in wheat fields is also practiced for the second year. In the current year, the sort composition of wheat will be replenished of the Russian solid sort “Krupinka”, which sowing took place in Akhal and Mary provinces.
The largest part of grain field – 225 hectares is located in Akhal province. Mary province allotted 200 thousand hectares under wheat, Mary province – 180 thousand hectares, Lebap province – 175 thousand hectares and Balkan province – 80 thousand hectares.
