Given the increasing interest of citizens of Turkmenistan and numerous guests from neighbouring and remote countries in popular recreation places, in particular the Avaza national tourism on the Caspian seashore, priority will be given to passenger trains running between Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi.

Radical renovation of the rail fleet of the Ministry of Rail Transport in the framework of the Transport and Communications Development Programme of Turkmenistan for 2012-2016 is to increase passenger traffic inside the country and improve the quality of services.
