In Turkmenistan, consistent measures are taken to optimize the activities of banking institutions, strengthen Turkmenistan manat, rise the volume of lending and depositing and broaden the range of service in the framework of the phase transition to a self-regulating market economy.
The necessary work on the introduction of MasterCard payment system is being carried out in Turkmenistan in accordance with the License Agreement between the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activities of Turkmenistan and MasterCard (United States of America).
The MasterCard formats - MasterCard Maestro, MasterCard Standard and MasterCard Gold – are developed for every user depending on his income and goals and MasterCard Business is developed for legal entities. In this context, each format of the payment card is currently designed.
MasterCard Maestro cards, which will be issued in our country in the near future, will feature an Ahalteke horse that is the national pride of the Turkmen people. The emblem of the V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts, which will take place in Ashgabat in 2017, will be depicted on MasterCard Standard cards.
The globe symbolizing international relations of our country will be depicted on MasterCard Business cards and the Karakum desert landscape on MasterCard Gold cards.
The introduction of the plastic cards of the MasterCard payment system in Turkmenistan is expected to increase the volume of cashless payments, which, in its turn, will increase the financial resource flows of economic entities and the capacity of the banking system as well as enable Turkmen banks to grant low interest loans. In general, the use of payment cards, including from MasterCard, in Turkmenistan will allow citizens and guests of our country to make purchases and payments at sales outlets and organisations rendering various services.
