The Interdepartmental Council for Statistics under the State Committee for Statistics of Turkmenistan hold a regular meeting in Ashgabat.

Council members exchanged their views on the new version of the State classificatory of economic activities introduced into the practice in the beginning of the current year. The reformatory measures taken place in this sphere has become a qualitatively new stage in improvement of work of the State Committee for Statistics of Turkmenistan.

Among the main tasks set to the Council are preparations of recommendations in using the unified statistics classifiers, creation of the standard database, development of modern technologies, their collection and processing as well as consideration of plans for statistics records in ministries and departments. Meeting participants also discussed the progress in implementing reforms in statistics given the introduction of the international financial reporting standards, statistics records of economic entities working under licenses of the non-governmental sector, and other issues.

A number of decisions were adopted during the meeting with the aim of further improvement of the national statistics.
