The cotton campaign has started in Dashoguz Velayat today. Cotton fields in the northern region of the country cover 140,000 hectares, on which cotton growers are planning to harvest 230,000 tons of 'white gold'. Dashoguz farmers give preference to the middle staple cotton varieties, such as 149F, C-4727, Dashoguz-120 and Serdar that have shown high results in soil and climatic conditions of the region.
High-capacity John Deere and Case cotton harvesters are engaged in harvesting cotton, and the large fleet of trucks and tractors with trailers are engaged in transporting cotton.
Procurement stations and ginneries with laboratories, where specialists of Turkmenstandartlary State Service test the quality of harvested cotton, have been prepared for round-the-clock operation during the harvest season.

The launch of the cotton campaign in Dashoguz Velayat was marked by the 'white caravan' that was sent to a new ginnery in Kunya Urgench Etrap. The enterprise supplied with state-of-the-art technology and equipment was put into operation in June this year. It will process 40,000 tons of cotton and produce about 15 tons of high quality cotton seeds each year.
Together with the ginnery, the cutting edge cotton-spinning factory was put into operation in Kunya Urgench Etrap and a new manufacturing department was opened at the ginnery in Gerogly Etrap. Thus, another important step towards the modernization of agro-industrial infrastructure of the region with the cotton industry as one of the major sectors was taken.
