A tugboat “GUDRAT” built to the order of the State Service for sea and river transport of Turkmenistan was delivered to Turkmenbashi international seaport. Tugboat was delivered by Volga-Don from the Turkish port Tuzla.
It is already the fourth tugboat delivered in the second half of the current year to Turkmenbashi international seaport. Like previous ones, it was constructed in shipyard near Istanbul. Multifunctional tugboat was purchased within the framework of phased realization of the General Plan of development of Turkmenbashi International Seaport and Turkmen mercantile marine until 2020, envisaging in medium-term prospect the turning of seaport in Turkmenbashi city into the largest transit junction of the Central Eurasian region.
With this purpose, it was started the construction of new seaport with super-modern piers, specialized logistic centers, shipyard, passenger terminal and other coastal facilities urged to increase the carrying capacity of the port and improve the quality of service of the clients to the level of the highest world standards.
The representatives of the city administration, officials of the State Service for sea and river transport of Turkmenistan and its dependent structures, activists of the social organizations, elders and youth of the city took part in the solemn welcome of new vessel.
New tugboat has the same linear dimensions like “Alem” and “Jahan” tugboats delivered in August and in October of the current year – “Seyil”. The length of “GUDRAT” tugboat is over 300 meters, width – nearly 12 meters, draught – up to 3.5 meters. But, total capacity of its main engines excels by third in tractive effort of energy installations of earlier delivered tugboats and comes to 2400 kilowatts. Vessel develops a speed of 11 hitches that is equal to 11 nautical miles or over 20 kilometers per hour. It is excellent characteristic of operative maneuverability for vessels of such class. Modern electronic systems of management and navigation equipment from the best world manufacturers allow managing the vessel.
Tugboats are major part of the fleet of Turkmenbashi International mercantile marine. Without them, it is impossible to realize safe passage of dry cargo ships, tankers and passenger liners on shipping canal and their mooring. Modern tugboats provide high quality of services, being rendered by the port for national and foreign ship owners. Besides mooring operations, newly delivered tugboats implement the tugging of multi-tonnage vessels and huge sea transports including marine oil platforms. In case of necessity, they execute search-and-rescue operations and take part in prevention and liquidation of fires on ships in case of their emergence. For this, each of new tugboats is fitted with two monitors of fire-prevention system with revolving gun carriages, which are provided with pipes of large caliber, throwing powerful compact streams of efficient fire-extinguishing means.
