It was published the third issue of collection of the articles of cycle “Art and architecture of Turkmenistan”, which continues the publication of annual scientific information of the National Management of Turkmenistan for protection, study and restoration of monuments of history and culture as well as State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan.
In the articles of art historians, historians of architecture and archeologists, who study ancient and modern art of Turkmenistan, the reader will find a lot of new about medieval ceramics of Koneurgench and about continuation of traditions of the Turkmen carpet-weaving art, about symbolic significance of color and its role in fine art of different nations, about genre of still life in painting of Turkmenistan of the current time.
More capacious in this issue became the section “Architectural heritage”. It included the articles devoted to the researches in the field of ancient and medieval architecture of South Turkmenistan, Parthian architecture of Old Nisa, hydraulic structures of Seljuk period in Serahs oasis, ritual complexes of neolith epoch opened by the archeologists in Yilgynly-depe as well as about two caravansaries functions in the middle ages recently discovered in desert in the north of Merv oasis.
Continuation of architectural topic is the publication in the section “Scientific heritage” of passage from classic work of professor of Saint Petersburg University V.A. Joukowski translated into the Turkmen language “Ruins of Old Merv” written 120 years ago and never lost its scientific-historical significance till present days.
