In these days, all over the country in the reservoirs there is active accumulation of water with a view of creation of essential reserves for needs of the national economic complex.
As the Ministry of Water Economy of Turkmenistan informed the correspondent of the State news agency (TDH), over 2600 million cubic meters of life-giving water have been accumulated. It is 110.6 million cubic meters higher than the last year. Owing to plentiful seasonal precipitations, the level of water increased in Amyderya, Murgap and other rivers, and its surpluses are taken to the artificial reservoirs.
Systemic, purposeful activity on increase of capacity of reservoirs allows creating the reserves of water resources, redistributing them efficiently on seasons, preserving until the period, when these reserves will be more demanded in the agricultural fields. So, it was completed the construction of a series of new facilities of reservoir “15 years of Independence” located in the south-east of Lebap province, which are prepared today for putting into exploitation. As this result, the capacity of artificial lake was reached up to 2.2 billion cubic meters. Being a giant storage of water, this largest in the country reservoir also fulfills the function of regulator of stream flow, providing uninterrupted passage of Amyderya water along Garagum River in fixed parameters. Range of works at the facilities of complex is expanded constantly. In the near years, it is planned to increase its capacity up to 3 billion 850 million cubic meters.
Moreover, presently, it is expanded the basins of reservoirs “Hanhowuz” in Garagum River and “Sariyazy” in Murgap River. Construction of reservoir with capacity of 20.5 million cubic meters is going on in Koneurgench etrap of Dashoguz province.
In January of the current year, according to the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, it was approved “Program of works on rational use of water resources in Turkmenistan and increase of culvert capacity of Garagum River within 2015-2020”. This program envisages the reconstruction of available and construction of new hydrotechnical facilities in the section of 100 kilometers – from main watershed of Garagum River up to Bereket of Balkan province. Concrete measures are taken with a view of purification of channel of Garagum River, supplying several provinces with life-giving water, on repair of its water regulating structures.
With commissioning of the first turn of the Turkmen Lake “Altyn asyr”, the collectors, draining from oases the ditch water, have been joined into one single highly efficient hydraulic system. As this result, it is improved the state of land reclamation of irrigated lands, prevented the discharge of ditch water to the adjoining low places and waterways. These measures contribute to the improvement of ecological situation in Turkmenistan and region as a whole. It is continued the construction of facilities of the second turn of this grandiose project.
Within the framework of reformations expanded in agro-industrial complex, special attention is paid to the strengthening of logistics of the Ministry of Water Economy of Turkmenistan. Structural subdivisions of the sector have highly productive bulldozers, excavators, motor transport and other technique from world manufacturers – “Caterpillar”, “Comatsu” and other equipment and technique. It is realized the reconstruction of Mary Repair-mechanical and Turkmenabat Repair-experimental enterprises.
High technical equipment allows increasing the efficiency of such prospective trends and modern methods of use of life-giving water as drip irrigation and overhead irrigation, which have demonstrated their efficiency on the Turkmen fields and capable to decrease its use owing to scientifically based water consumption.
