A new plant was put into operation at the Seidi oil refinery. The project of the facility producing paving bitumen was implemented at the Seidi oil refinery jointly with Westport Trading Europe Limited (United States). The plant is supplied with state-of-the-art equipment. The high level of automation; computers with special software monitor all the manufacturing processes at the facility. The plant that occupies an area of 1.5 hectares has the estimated capacity to process 118,000 tons of fuel oil and produce 37,200 tons of paving bitumen a year.

In Turkmenistan, it is first facility using viscosity breaking process to refine heavy oil residues. In fact, these are waste products which are separated from crude oil using fractional distillation and used to produce petroleum products.

In the near future it is planned to implement new projects at the plant that will ensure deep oil and gas condensate processing. In particular, the project for the modernization of the catalytic reformer unit has been launched. The plant currently produces straight-run gasoline; after modernization it will produce high-octane gasoline and diesel fuel meeting the international quality standards.
