Following cotton growers in Balkan Velayat, agricultural workers in Balkan Velayat reported on the fulfilment of their contractual obligations on the eve of the 20th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan. This year they have harvested over 310,000 tons of ‘white gold’.

The labour victory gained by Mary cotton growers is a remarkable result of their hard work on each of 165,000 hectares of cotton fields in the region. Mary agricultural workers sowed a large part of fields in the region with Yoloten-7 middle stapled varieties and Yoloten-14 fine-fibre variety which had been cultivated by Turkmen specialists on fertile lands in the Murghab valley and adapted well to local soil and climatic conditions. It is this science-based approach that helped Mary cotton growers to gain this outstanding achievement.

The cotton campaign is in full swing in the fields throughout the region.
