A regular cotton sowing campaign started on the fields of the country. Ahal province successfully completed the harvesting campaign of the last year, having delivered to the large bin of Motherland 238 thousand 695 tons of “white gold” and fulfilled the state order by 115.7 percent. Cotton-growers of the region confidently plan to keep the high level this time as well.
On the threshold of sowing, the leaseholders worried about main question: “Is there enough essential seed sorts at the enterprises of “Turkmenpagta” State Concern and are they sufficient in the case of reinoculation for weather conditions?” The representatives of Ahal vilayet cotton trade enterprise “Ak altyn” at “Turkmenpagta” State Concern answered these and other questions.
As specialists of the enterprise noted, the cotton-growers of the province will sow cotton on 120 thousand hectares of area. In the region, 24 specialized seed farms are engaged in production of cottonseeds as well as grains. In the last year, they grew and delivered to the reception points of the enterprises of “Turkmenpagta” of Ahal province over 26 thousand tons of raw cotton for these purposes. The specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, “Turkmenpagta” State Concern, and State Service for seed farming and quality testing, Research Institute of cotton growing and workers of agricultural joint-stock societies held approval of seed crops of technical culture under harvest of 2015.
Procurement of high-class seeds of technical crop under harvest of 2015 was held on the fields of leaseholders, whose cotton plantations underwent the final approval of the state commission on suitableness. Seven ginning enterprises of Ahal province prepared for keeping the seed material in due way, and for further sowing. Moreover, it was also carried out the preparatory works for sterilization of cottonseeds against diseases and pests of main technical crop.
Specialists of testing laboratories of ginning enterprises preliminarily determined the quality rating of seed material. Only while correspondence to essential quality indices, the seed material is provided with certificate, and “Ak altyn” enterprise offers it to the leaseholders for sowing.
In 2015, 121 peasants’ associations and other manufacturers will cultivate raw cotton. All of them made the contracts for purchase of 205 thousand tons of this important agricultural product.
Leaseholders need 13 thousand tons of seeds under harvest of the current year. “Ak altyn” cotton trade enterprise procured nearly 13.5 thousand tons of high-quality sowing material for leaseholders of Ahal province.
