Mass winter wheat sowing has begun in Turkmenistan. By national tradition, the first seeds of winter wheat in well-prepared soil were thrown by honorable elders. The elders and their young helpers gave symbolical sowing baton to modern highly efficient agricultural machinery.
The grain field of the country will occupy 760 thousand hectares of land, wherefrom in 2016, the farmers will yield 1 million 600 thousand tons of grain, including in Ahal province - 450, Mary - 380, Lebap - 350, Dashoguz - 300 and Balkan - 120 thousand tons.
On the occasion of the beginning of winter wheat sowing campaign, the seminars have taken place in Peasants’ Associations “Bugdayly” of Ak bugday etrap of Ahal province, “Azadi” of Serdar etrap of Balkan province, “Gokchage” of Gubadag etrap of Dashoguz province, “Bereket” of Garashsyzlyk etrap of Lebap province and “Birleshik” of Sakarchage etrap of Mary province.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, vilayet and etrap municipalities, “Turkmengallaonumleri” and “Turkmenobahyzmat” State Associations, Main State Service “Turkmenstandartlary”, “Turkmenhimiya” State Concern, Ministry of Water Economy, heads of Peasants’ Associations, agronomists, machine operators, leaseholders-grain-growers, and elders have taken part in them. It was discussed the issues of efficient organization of sowing campaign, use of modern methods in grain cultivation, best practices in these areas.
Within the framework of seminars, it was organized the exhibitions of products, being manufactured by the enterprises of agro-industrial complex of the country, as well as modern technics, which is available in agricultural branch. The various concert program on this occasion was prepared by song and dance groups and folklore collectives of the provinces.
High-quality seeds of high-yielding grades of wheat, in particular, such as “Sahrai”, “Juvan”, “Bitarap”, “Yoloten-1”, “Yoloten-3”, “Turkmenbashi-1”, “Gyzylshaglavuk-25”, “Miras”, “Akbash”, “Vassa”, “Irishka”, “Yubileynaya-100”, “Batko” as well as “Krupinka” were procured for a sowing campaign beforehand. Grain-growers are completely provided with necessary agricultural machinery. As TDH has informed, more than 2 thousand arable and 5 thousand tractor-cultivators of “Klaas”, “Case”, “John Deer” brands, “Belarus-80H” and “Belarus-82.1” as well as over 1670 seeders, other units and equipment are involved in the central sectoral departments of agro-industrial complex of the country, all over Turkmenistan in present campaign. Thus, there are all conditions to hold the sowing campaign in optimal terms that is the pledge to harvest a rich crop.
Within the framework of agrarian reform, it is rendered the purposeful support of agricultural branch, which is expressed in technical re-equipment and modernization of whole industrial infrastructure of agro-industrial complex, development of the chemical industry, providing the peasants with mineral fertilizers, solution of issues of land improvement and water supply. For needs of agro-industrial complex, it is purchased modern tractors, combines and other technics.
So, according to the “Program of Development of agricultural sector of Turkmenistan within 2012-2016”, in last year, it was put into operation 8 equipped with the modern equipment elevators at once, which were erected to the order of the State Association “Turkmengallaonumleri” in various provinces of the country. Their total capacity is 360 thousand tons of wheat. On the territory of every elevator, there is a section for procurement of selected wheat seed with productivity of 10 tons of grain per hour.
Leaseholders, peasants’ associations, land owners, machine operators credits are provided with credit on favorable terms for financing the manufacture of agricultural products, purchase of technics. In all regions, it is realized the large investment projects, radically changing the life of Turkmen village.
The fact that Turkmenistan started to export food grain is of huge importance from viewpoint of progressive state development. It is worth mentioning that this year, our country has received a special award of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for achievements in the field of maintenance of food safety as one of the Development Goals of Millennium outlined in the program of FAO for the period until 2015. As a whole, all this serves as expressive confirmation of the successful solution of tasks on maintenance in the country of food abundance, including, at the expense of full satisfaction of requirements of home market with grain of own production.
