A new natural gas discovery

Substantial commercial quantities of natural gas have been recently discovered on the Bagly-1 gas field, located in Mary Velayat in the Karakum Desert. A new natural gas discovery became possible after the first exploration well had reached a depth of 4,690 metres and the production strings had been sunken 230 metres higher.

Daily production of hydrocarbon resources is over 1,500 cubic metres. The high prospects of the new natural gas deposit can also be explained by the fact that it is located several tens of kilometres from the giant Galkynysh gas field that is famous worldwide for explored and proven reserves of ‘blue fuel’.

The crews under the supervision of the foreman Kakajan Joraev and Arslan Mamedov from the Lebapnebitgazgozleg Department at the Turkmengeologiya State Corporation are engaged in open-hole formation testing. After an investigation into the gasdynamic object is completed, the high performance drilling rig will be dismantled and moved to the neighbouring Minara-3 gas field, where prospecting work will begin.

The subdivisions of the Lebapnebitgazgozleg Department are currently engaged in the prospecting for mineral resources on the territory of Ahal, Balkan and Lebap Velayat. Since the beginning of the year, they have drilled 812 metres above the plan.
