Specialists of the Institute of oil and gas of the "Turkmengas" State Concern have started an engineering-exploration works on the route of the future gas-main pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India. They will carry out a complex of technical and geological researches on 215-kilometre site in southeast of the country - from super huge Galkynysh deposit and to the Afghanistan border.
Pioneers of the route - geologists, geodesists, engineers-designers and other experts of the branch institute will have to prove a location in territory of the country of the future kilometers-long gas pipeline, to map a route on cards, collect necessary data for building of corresponding gas-transport infrastructure.
Skilled engineers and workers having wide experience in creation of similar lines, take part in route preparation. Exploration works on such gas-main pipeline as "East-West", construction of linear part of which is about to be completed, have also been realized by them. Now, the specialists of the group on development of the working design of strategic pipeline TAPI have carried out an investigation of more than two tens kilometers of the route. They will finish all complex of researches by the first days of December, when the construction of a linear part of the gas-main pipeline is planned to be started.
The interstate gas pipeline with 33 billion cubic meters of capacity of tank gas per year, will be 1800 kilometers long, diameter of a pipe will constitute 1420 millimeters. According to the decision of the Steering committee on ТАPI project, holding its 22nd session in Ashgabat, "Turkmengas" State concern was unanimously selected as the leader of “TAPI Ltd” consortium. As the leader, the concern experts will supervise the interaction in construction, financing, possession and pipeline maintenance.
Scales of forthcoming works on construction of this pipeline are huge. Builders of gas-transport system on Turkmen site should overcome a difficult relief, construct transitions, erect compressor stations and a number of other objects. Performance of all these operations in time, securing of gas pipeline from external influence, creation of developed infrastructure, capable to operate and supervise a stream of the "blue fuel” will require not less efforts from them.
It is very important that construction of the strategic pipeline on a Turkmen site will be conducted by forces of the domestic fuel-energy complex. This is the evidence of high trust of the Steering committee members to professional skill and material and technical potential of oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan, its ability to realize large projects at the international level.
Turkmen builders of gas mains got practical experience on construction of Malay-Bagtyyarlyk, Turkmenistan-China gas pipelines, Dovletabad-Serahs-Hangeran - the second gas pipeline to Iran, on construction of regional 800 kilometers long gas pipeline "East-West". This experience should become a reliable guarantee of that experts of "Turkmengas” and "Turkmenneftegazgurlushyk" state concerns will perform in time the basic operations on laying of a 215-kilometre site of a gas pipeline, its arrangement and creation of necessary infrastructure.
Now by the order of Natural gas field development and gas pipeline construction management of SC "Turkmengas" the general contractor of ТАPI gas pipeline construction - SC "Turkmenneftegazgurlushyk" has started a laying of highway that will pass along the future pipeline. It will allow to use effectively on a difficult relief of route the modern technics and the mechanisms, participating in construction of the century. Simultaneously, the experts of concern carry out operations on analysis and sampling of the equipment necessary for installation and use on a linear part of the strategic pipeline and its surface auxiliary sites.
One of the primary goals of interstate gas-transport system TAPI created by Turkmenistan is provision of diversification of natural gas export deliveries to the world markets. In the energy program designed for the next decades, the special role is given to complex development of huge stocks of hydrocarbon raw materials available in the country. Issues on use of high technologies in primary cleaning of natural gas produced here and construction of modern gas-purifying plant, as well as feasibility study of this project have been discussed. Results of discussion are closely connected with preparation of resource base for the TAPI pipeline, which will sell 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
The new energy policy of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has defined the major priorities of development of the domestic fuel-energy complex for the near-term prospect and concrete steps on a way of integration of the country to the world energy system.
