The science conference, marking the 22nd anniversary of Turkmenistan manat, was held in the conference hall of the Central Bank. The forum brought together the cabinet ministers, heads and specialists of state and joint stock commercial banks, ministries and departments of the economic bloc, lecturers and students of higher educational institutions and representatives of the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Public Service under the President of Turkmenistan and the media.
The reports on the measures taken to achieve the objectives set forth in the state development programme of the banking system for 2011-2030, improve relevant laws and promote cooperation with authoritative regional and international financial institutions as well as the history of money circulation in Turkmenistan were presented at the conference.
The banks in the country carry out targeted work on the further improvement the quality of services, including online banking, and the implementation of promising ideas. In particular, they render services to citizens of our country who hold the following types of payment card: Visa, Visa Electron, Visa Classic and Visa Gold and to legal entities: Visa Business. In addition, consistent measures are taken to join the international payment system MasterCard in order to promote non-cash payments in the spheres of trade and services.
Positive results in the implementation of investment projects to support the private sector funded by banking institutions and related to the growth of private enterprises and entrepreneurial activities and the creation of new jobs have been achieved.
The steps taken have enabled Turkmenistan to avoid significant adverse effects of the global financial crisis as well as contributed to facilitated the advancement of the country on the path of progress and prosperity. High macroeconomic indicators in the national economy as well as positive expert evaluations of the authoritative international financial institutions vividly testify to the effectiveness of on-going reforms in this sphere.
