The V International Cotton Fair of Turkmenistan has started its work at the Sergi Kosgi Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat. The organizers of the forum are Turkmenpagta State Concern, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
The subdivisions of Turkmenistan’s agro-industrial sector, mainly the cotton industry, and 80 companies and organisations from 27 countries are represented at the international forum. These include the exhibitors from Russia, China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Germany, Italy, India, Latvia, Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, among others. (For comparison: 55 companies from 23 countries participated in the fair in 2014). The growing interest in the forum is based on the growing capacity of Turkmenistan’s agro-industrial sector, favourable investment climate, progressive integration of Turkmen economy into the global economy and enhancement of its export capacity.
The textile, cotton and trading departments and enterprises, economic societies and business companies from Turkmenistan are represented at the Exhibition Centre. In particular, these include Turkmenpagta State Concern, Ak Altyn procurement enterprise, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, Turkmenhaly State Association and the enterprises that process raw cotton and manufacture cotton products.
The foreign exhibitors are represented by the companies and enterprises that operate in the agro-industrial sector as well as in the chemical, machine building and metallurgical industries and cooperate with leading agro-industrial enterprises, providing them with technologies and raw materials. The pavilions of the foreign participants, including the long-standing partners of Turkmenistan, present a wide range of products. These include Maschio Gaspardo (Italy), Project Trading Ltd. (Turkey), Claas (Germany), Central Cotton Company Limited (USA), ICT Cotton Limited (Italy), Premier Cotton Spinning (Bangladesh), Lemken (Germany), Valley (USA), Ruchim SRL (Moldova) and Bayer (Germany), among others.
The International Cotton Fair provided a platform for the international conference on Cotton Products of Turkmenistan and World Market. The science forum brought together experts and representatives of the departments of agro-industrial companies, long-standing and potential partners of our country, manufacturers of agricultural equipment and machinery, agricultural scientists and industry experts in the conference hall of the Sergi Kosgi Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat.
The conference continued its work in two sections. One of the sections was held in the conference hall of the Turkmen Agricultural University, the other – in the conference hall of the building complex of Turkmenistan’s agro-industrial sector.
The agenda of the science conference covered the important topics, such as land treatment and cotton production practices, cotton ginning industry and global cotton trade. The issues related to seed growing and science-based cultivation methods, the latest achievements and future development prospects of cotton growing and cotton ginning industries, modern cotton ginning technologies and trends on the world cotton market and promotion of cotton products from Turkmenistan on the world cotton market were also discussed at the conference. In this context, attention was paid to the prospects for enhancing cooperation of Turkmenistan with other countries on exports of textile products, which are great demand in the world, and increasing the supply of state-of-the-art technology and equipment.
