According to the press service of the Southern Interregional Directorate of the Rosselkhoznadzor, 23.2 tons of watermelons grown in Turkmenistan were imported into Russia through the checkpoints of the Krasnodar Krai.

According to the source, Egypt and Turkey also delivered watermelons to Russia the same way. In total, 11,248 tons of watermelons were imported to Russia through the port of the Krasnodar Krai. Melons from Turkey, Egypt and Tajikistan were also exported to Russia.

According to the press service of the Southern Interregional Directorate of the Rosselkhoznadzor, melons and watermelons were exported with all necessary phytosanitary certificates issued by the authorized body of exporting countries, passed sanitary control and were allowed for sale.

It should be noted that Turkmen farmers grow melons and watermelons for the domestic market, satisfying the needs of the population as well as supply fresh fruits to foreign market.

Melon growing in Turkmenistan has deep historical roots, and is an ancient tradition, therefore today we have the best melon varieties. It can be said without prejudice that Turkmen melon growers are experts in this area.
