The largest European cargo air carrier from Luxembourg realizes both regular and charter flights to many cities of the world. Since June of the last year, taking into account the reached agreements between the aviation authorities of Turkmenistan and Luxembourg, “Cargolux” Company regularly (with frequency four times a week) delivers through air gates of seaside city the different cargoes from Luxembourg - to Taipei, from Hong Kong - to Vienna and Budapest. This year, the airline plans, beginning from April 8, to realize to Turkmenbashi eight flights weekly. Besides the mentioned cities, the pilots will carry by transit through airport of Turkmenbashi the cargoes from Luxembourg - to Singapore and Ho Chi Minh.
Airline “Cargolux Airlines International S.A.” was founded in 1970 by various companies and private investors of Luxembourg. It has started to operate, having only one cargo plane and delivering cargoes on a route Luxembourg-Hong Kong. In last year, the air carrier has executed the first cargo flight on a route Hong Kong-Turkmenbashi-Budapest by plane Boeing-747-400F. Today, the company has powerful aviation fleet of cargo planes - over twenty aircrafts of type Boeing-747-400F and Boeing-747-8F, capable to transport up to 130 tons of cargoes to thousands kilometers.
The selection of Europeans of the international airport on Caspian Sea as transit point on the routes connecting cities of Europe and Asia is caused first of all by its favorable geographical position on crossing of the sea air, railway and automobile means of communication connecting Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia. A considerable role in this choice played the modern logistics and infrastructure of the International airport, which was created taking into account the highest standards required to modern transport links of such type.
The centralized filling stations, which allow filling simultaneously with fuel eight planes at once, considerably accelerate the service of aviation technics at the airport. Especially for crews of the foreign airlines, making transit flights, it was envisaged the hotel for some tens of places with cafeteria, and the cargo terminal equipped with the automated system of cargo processing, was constructed at the airport for processing of the arrived and sent cargoes. For realization of this potential, it was opened the international passenger flights as well as was involved the largest European cargo air carrier - company “Cargolux”.
“The new air harbour constructed in the city on the Caspian Sea will expand possibilities of national civil aviation both in the field of international and internal passenger transportations, will promote improvement of quality of service of passengers as well as the fullest realization of transit potential of Turkmenistan” – the President of the country Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has defined in due time the prospects of development of the international airport in Turkmenbashi city.
