Everybody knows about the striving of the postwar generation for the peaceful successes in various areas of activity. One of such highly motivated people of that time was Gurbandurdy Charyev. At a young age he had love of music. His mother Myahrijemal, who discovered the boy's abilities, could not even imagine that, having placed him in a music school, thereby opened the way for him to great music.
Like many of his peers and classmates in Bayramali, Gurbandurdy loved listening in his free time to radio tunes and songs by Sahy Jepbarov, Magtymguly Garlyyev, Amangeldy Turlyyev. But unlike many, he remembered and literally absorbed these melodies, ready to reproduce them at any time and with incredible sounding accuracy.
Till seventh form Gurbandurdy studied in Bayramaly, afterwards he was sent to Ashgabat to continue his studies in the Republican music boarding school named after D.Ovezov at the Turkmen National Conservatory. Learning the ropes of the music art, the young felllow was taught by such famous composers as V.Dmitriyenko, V.Muhatov.
Upon completion of the capital’s educational institution, Gurbandurdy was assigned in Mary school, where he worked as a teacher of music. He worked as a specialist in the Arts Centre at the Ministry of Culture. There, he created his first lyric songs: «Pagtaçy gyz», «Seb aýdymyň aşygy», «Dagly gyz».
Gradually G.Charyev was overcome by his intention to create more serious music ccompositions. His first professional compositions appeared– sonatas, romances, symphonies.
Years pass quickly. Today the works of the composer Gurbandurdy Charyev are performed in Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and other countries. He created more than one hundred Estrada composisions, issued many сборников. Today the songs by the composer Gurbandurdy Charyev perform D.Saparova, B.Hajyyev, G.Gurdova, T.Jepbarov, P.Amandurdyyev.
There are many works of composer devoted to the Motherland, leader of the nation – President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov («Prezidentiň ýüregi», «Baky ýaşa Arkadag»).
He is characterized by his family, friends and acquaintance as a patriot, talented composer, big-hearted.
