The geography of winter onion production considerably extended this year in the north of Turkmenistan. For example, in etrap named after S.A. Niyazov, where the onion was grown earlier only in the Dayhan Association «Novbahor», now other farms allocated cultivation area under onion. But this time the main producer of the early onion in the region became the etrap named after Gurbansoltan-eje, where 510 hectares were allocated for it. In general, the winter onion is cultivating in area of one thousand hectares in Dashoguz velayat.
For the planting materials the varieties were carefully selected again which are already adapted for the soil and climate conditions of the region, distinguished by high winter resistance and disease resistance. Indeed, on the selection of varieties for a particular area depends not only on the yield, but also on the ripening time of the culture. Gained cultivation experience provides a proper care for the winter onion. Let us recall, the mass plantation of the winter onion for the first time in Dashoguz velayat was in autumn, 2020 in two etraps.
In accordance with tasks assigned by the state to the local agrarian and industrial complex concerning increasing production volume of the demanded by the population food products, measures are being taken consistently by the farmers of Dashoguz velayat to increase the profitability of the agrarian sector, including by increasing the productivity of agricultural land, the rational use of land and water resources.
The state tasks on the production of the main types of agricultural crops are successfully realized, double cropping of potato, onion and carrot crops is introduced, the production of cereals, legumes, melon crops are being developed, new gardens and vineyards are being established in the region last years.
