Turkmenistan held a competition for the best rural district of the country for several consecutive years. In according with the order signed by the head of state in January, the local administrations of districts, which by the end of 2016 will achieve the highest rates in the field of socio-economic development, will be awarded the prize - one million US dollars. Winners will be determined by many criteria, including the fulfillment of contractual obligations to collect grain and cotton.
