Following other regions of the country, farmers of the Dashoguz velayat started planting potatoes.

This year potato plantations of Dashoguz velayat will cover eight thousand and eight hundred hectares. This is much more than last year. The main part of these areas - almost three thousand hectares - is located in the etrap named after Gurbansoltan-eje, the etrap named after S.A. Niyazov will again become a major producer of potatoes, where about two thousand hectares of land are allocated for planting tubers. The presence of a sufficient amount of sowing material and the necessary equipment should allow the farmers of the velayat to conduct a responsible agrotechnical campaign within the stipulated optimal time. In the northern region of the country, mainly suitable for growing in local soil and climatic conditions, high-yielding and well-tolerating mechanized harvesting, medium-early and early varieties of Dutch selection are cultivated, which are unpretentious in care and little susceptible to diseases.

It should be noted that in accordance with the country's support for small and medium-sized enterprises, including in the agricultural sector, in encouraging their active participation in the process of further strengthening the country's food independence, in the production of potatoes in the Dashoguz velayat, along with local dayhan farms, active private business structures will also take part.
