A set of measures to search for new deposits of fresh underground water with operational prospects and assess their operational resources was carried out this year by specialists from the Dashoguz hydrogeological expedition of the State Corporation "Türkmengeologiýa" on the territory of several etraps of the northern region of the country. Their goal was to find ways to further provide high-quality drinking water to the residents of the Akdepe etrap, the Ýagtylyk and Yzmykşir geneshliks of the Gyorogly etrap, the administrative center and the Oguzhan and Ruhnama geneshliks of the Ruhubelent etrap. The ongoing work made it possible to determine the thickness, depth of occurrence and boundaries of new aquifers located, including on the virgin Shakhsenem massif. In addition, preliminary studies of underground fresh water deposits in the “Hamaýýap” area have been completed, which will improve the water supply of rural settlements of the “Bitarap Türkmenistan” geneshlik of the Gubadag etrap in the future. A report on the data explored here will be sent to the State Commission for Mineral Reserves.
In total, over the three months of this year, specialists from the Dashoguz Hydrogeological Expedition completed drilling work by more than 125 percent.
In the northern region, the countries pay special attention to the careful and rational use of water resources, including the available reserves of fresh underground water. Along with the exploration of new deposits, work is being consistently carried out here to assess the operational resources of underground sources of moisture, the degree of their suitability for the prospective supply of the local population. Only in recent years, such work has made it possible to significantly expand the local water supply infrastructure through the construction of new water intakes and modern water treatment plants of various capacities.
