Today it simultaneously started cotton harvesting by farmers of Akhal, Lebap and Mary regions. A little later, on September, 7, the harvesting will join cotton growers of the northern region of the country, Dashoguz region.
The main task of farmers now is to harvest in time and without losing any grain, all grown harvests and to deliver it to the state warehouses. Current cotton harvest in Turkmenistan is planning to procure 1 mln 500 thousand tons of "white gold", including in Akhal region - 207 thousand tons; in Dashoguz region- 230 thousand tons; in Lebap region - 300 thousand tons; in Mary region- 313 thousand tons. The total area of land allocation for cotton is 545 thousand hectares. In spring, the fields are sowed the medium and fine cotton varieties - "149F", "133", "Yoloten-7", "Dashoguz-120", "Serdar", "S-4727", "Yoloten-39", "Yoloten-14" and others.
A total of 425 cotton pickers will be involved in the harvest season, as well as 3035 units of motto transports, 2356 tractors, and 3597 tractor trailers to transport raw cotton. On sites, for the smooth operation of the cotton-picking conveyor it is arranged a 24 hour services of technical and operating equipment maintenance, it is organized the necessary conditions for productive work and good rest of machine operators, drivers and cotton picking workers. In order to conduct treatment of cotton before machine cotton harvesting it is purchased defoliant in necessary volumes. As always, on this work it will be involved not only a specialized tractor, but also the special plane of civil aviation.
To receive a new cotton harvest it is produced 156 procurement centers and 39 ginning factories of the country. The laboratories are located on sites at reception centers and factories, public service professionals "Turkmenstandartlary" will provide strict quality control of incoming products.
To stimulate the labor of the advanced workers, cotton growers, tenants farmers, cultivators, combiners and drivers in the cotton picking campaign in 2016, the Central Board of the Agrarian Party, the Political Council of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, and the Central Authorities of other public organizations, Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Turkmenistan, State Commercial Bank "Daikhanbank" and the newspaper editorial office "Galkinish", "Nesil" and "Bereketli Toprak" hold traditional contest.
Today, the collection points and cotton processing complexes of Geoktepe district of Akhal region, Karabekaul district of Lebap region and Sakarçäge District of Mary region from the surrounding fields are delivered the first caravans of cars and tractors with trailers loaded up to the top with cotton decorated with the national flags, carpets and banners.
As part of today's celebration it is held the exhibition of agricultural machinery, product of agro-processing and textile industry. Artists, musicians and singers, dance and folklore groups of the regions perform with concert programs. It was also held competitions in national kinds of sports. The advanced workers which are the best tenants, cotton growers who are involved to grow a good crop of cotton are conferred valuable gifts.
Cotton is an important crop of domestic agriculture, the cultivation of which has rich traditions. Production and processing of "white gold" are the among the key directions of development of the national agro-industrial complex, where priority is given to technical re-equipment of this perspective sector, active and practical implementation of advanced scientific research and technology innovation, economic incentives for agricultural producers.
To resolve the set goals in this field aim a large- scale reforms, implemented in the agricultural complex on the initiative of the Turkmen Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and aimed to bring the agricultural sector, including cotton to the qualitatively new levels. In particular, effective steps are being taken to improve the standard of farming, the use of scientifically based methods of crop cultivation, taking into consideration the soil and climatic conditions of each region of the country, improvement of land reclamation conditions. At the same time, it intensifies the work in the field of scientific breeding; create new cotton varieties which are distinguished by early ripening variety, yield and high fiber quality.
Last year, Turkmen farmers have exceeded their contractual obligations, passing on to the warehouses of our motherland more than 1 million 100 thousand tons of raw cotton.
Turkmenistan’s export is consisting of the significant part from cotton which is a raw material for the enterprises and the dynamically developing national textile industry. It is producing products that meet international standards, which enjoys broad consumer demand - both in the domestic market and abroad. In the context of the maximum involvement of the potential of the cotton industry, its further increase of the crops’ volume of "white gold", which is the most important factor it is considered preparation of high-quality seed. To this end, it is consistently upgraded cotton processing infrastructure built on the modern ginnery complexes.
The state is allocated significant funds to improve the level of technical equipment of cotton growing. Because of this, today the basis of the technical industry consists of high production of cotton harvesters, tractors and other specialized machinery and equipment from the famous foreign manufacturers. At the same time maintenance of machinery, provision of seeds, fertilizers, water irrigation, in accordance with agro-technical norms and other services are provided to tenants and farmers' associations on the favorable terms.
Effective measures are being taken in order to implement in rural areas of modern economic relations and improving mutual mechanism of cotton producers. In particular, Turkmenistan is systematically increase purchase prices for medium and fine-stapled cotton, as well as the seeds of high-yield varieties of cotton. Cotton growers have the opportunity to realize fiber, lint received from the industrial processing produced in excess of state procurement of cotton. This was another incentive to improve the productivity of farmers, their interest in the cultivation of ever higher yields.
In December of this year in Ashgabat it is scheduled to hold the VI International exhibition organizes a fair of cotton products of Turkmenistan. The main purpose of the forum is the presentation of the export potential of the industry, the country's successes and achievements in the most important segment of the economy, establishment and expansion of long-term cooperation with the world's largest companies specializing in cotton fiber processing, and production equipment, etc.
