Eight teams were brought together by the Mary Region Football Cup, which started in Mary.

Two clubs of the highest league of Turkmenistan - “Merv” and “Energetik” and six amateur clubs - “Olimp”, “Murgab”, “Hereket”, “Yoloten”, “Bayramaly” and “Kuvvat” are fighting for the honorary trophy.

Tournament participants are divided into two groups. Group “A” consisted of: “Merv”, “Kuvvat”, “Hereket” and “Murgab”. Group “B” - “Energetik”, “Olimp”, “Bayramaly” and “Yoloten”.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-final pairs on May 28 will determine the winner of the trophy in the final.

The first round was very resultative: 24 goals were scored in four matches.

In group “A” “Merv” defeated “Murgab” - 9:0, and “Kuvvat” and “Hereket” played in a draw - 1:1. In Group “B”, “Energetik” crushed “Yoloten” - 7:1, and “Olimp” defeated “Bayramaly” - 4:1.

Matches of the second round, in which “Murgab” - “Hereket”, “Yoloten” - “Bayramaly”, “Merv” - “Kuvvat” and “Energetik” - “Olimp” will meet, will be held on 17th and 18th of May.
