Our country focuses on the high world standards while implementing the ambitious reforms. The volumes of construction of social and living facilities, industrial and energy complexes, gas pipeline systems increase in the high seismic hazard zones. As far as the information is accumulated, the microseismic zoning maps are improved and the requirements to antiseismic construction are increased.

The main goal is to guarantee the seismic safety and minimize damages caused by strong earthquakes. Among the tasks set to the engineering seismology and antiseismic construction are the estimation of seismological hazard, development of special constructions and special buildings, which are able to offset the effect of earthquake.

The observance of construction standards in Turkmenistan is obligatory while designing new, reconstructed and restored buildings and constructions. The specialists of the Research Institute of antiseismic construction develop new documents and revise old documents given the achievements of the construction industry, advanced innovative technologies and international standards. Their observance is rigorously monitored at construction sites.

Development of the construction science made it possible to erect high-rise buildings even in the regions, which were considered inappropriate for development. The specialists of the Research Institute of antiseismic construction and other subdivisions of the Ministry of Construction of Turkmenistan supervise the observance of standards at construction sites. The aseismic strength of buildings and constructions are achieved by using fundamentally new constructive innovative schemes and regulatory and calculated basis existing on the territory of Turkmenistan, which guarantee the resistance to seismic impact.

The International Airport will be put into operation in Ashgabat in the nearest future. According to the National seismic-risk zoning map on of Ashgabat (2001), the construction site of the new airport is classified as seismic zone 9. In accordance with the Construction standards of Turkmenistan, the supplementary measures should be taken on such kinds of construction sites. Among them are soil stabilization and consolidation as well as creation of artificial foundations.

The specialists of the Engineering Seismology Institution drafted 50 conclusions of the estimated seismicity rate of the airport construction site and 80 recommendations on creation of the artificial foundation with the aim to reduce the reaction of seismic impact on buildings and constructions in the air harbour.

The specialist of the laboratory of the Water Proofing and Anticorrosion Protection Institute drafted recommendations to design anticorrosion protection of the foundation constructions.

The dynamics of the economic growth of Turkmenistan is vividly illustrated by the high paces of development of the construction industry, the projects implemented in the industrial and transport spheres as well as rapidly renovating look of Turkmen cities and villages.
