Large-scale reconstruction was carried out at “Guvlyduz” enterprise in Guvlymayak settlement of Balkan province. The enterprise produces dietary common salt obtained from self-recovering Guvly salt lake – unique gem in the necklace of mineral resources of the country.
Reconstruction of buildings and installations on the territory of industrial site with area of nearly 40 thousand square meters became the first stage in modernization of the oldest salt production in the country.
The industrial laboratory of the enterprise has been reequipped with up-to-date analytical devices. In spite of availability of electronic devices and digital equipment, it was not written off proof-of-principle stands with test tubes. They are used by the laboratory assistants to specify and supplement the data of computer analyses. Composition of common salt for industrial use and particularly refined salt has to correspond strictly with requirements, being made for quality of foodstuffs. An important moment in the work of laboratory is the control of ingredients of iodized table salt, being used in prevention of diseases, arising because of iodine deficiency in the organism. High quality and healing properties of this product is confirmed by the international certificate. It was granted to the enterprise for introduction of technology on versatile salt enrichment with iodine.
Salt mills, turnery workshops, joiner's shop, motor and electric shops, transformer substation, vacuum, accumulator and welding departments of the enterprise were reconstructed as well. It was realized fundamental rearrangement of shipping department, including on repair of combines, railway vehicles and other heavy engineering, which are used in salt mining and its transportation from face to mounding fields. In outdoor mounds the common salt becomes free from chemical and mechanical impurities nearly a hundred per cent. Naturally purified coarse-grained bay salt is ready for use even without preliminary grinding. It is another uniqueness of practically inexhaustible reserves of natural saltcellar Guvly.
A large scope of work was realized on the territory of sea berthage of the enterprise located in Giyanly settlement at eight kilometers far from Guvlymayak. Asphalt-paved access roads were laid to the place of acceptance and dispatch of common salt to water transport. It was developed a vast salt storage, which is equipped with check point and rooms for guard duty and docker-mechanization experts. 70-meter long sustaining wall of the salt terminal with conveyor gantries for salt shipment in dry cargo ships was ennobled on the side of berthing line with plastic sluice gates. With a view of increase the environmental safety of loading locality, it is planned to lay out a green park with conifers and other trees nearby. It has been erected the water reservoirs for watering of green plantations.
Simultaneously with works at the manufacturing entities, it was carried out the reconstruction of social infrastructure of the enterprise and urban settlement Guvlymayak. The buildings of hospital, club, bakery, kindergarten, hotel, post office and others have been reconditioned in township of the salt miners. At settlement gates, it was reconstructed the filling station fitted with up-to-date fuel filling columns for service of motor cars of the enterprise and residents of Guvlymayak.

According to the results of the first quarter of the current year, the enterprise manufactured nearly 12 thousand tons of common salt in total. Production plan has been fulfilled by 144.8 percent at the growth pace of production volumes of finished product by 118.3 percent. Within this period of time, the enterprise provided 7 thousand tons of iodized table salt for population free of charge.
