The first series of trainings for members of the Government Commission on the study of issues related to Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization has been completed. They are organized from April to August 2022 by the International Trade Center (ITC) within the framework of the Ready4Trade Central Asia project, which is funded by the European Union.
The course covered a wide range of topics, including the basic rules and principles of the WTO legal system. In particular, the General Agreement on Trade in Services, the Agreement on Agriculture, the Agreement on Trade Facilitation, the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, the Antidumping Agreement, the Agreement on Investment Measures in Trade, the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and phytosanitary measures, as well as the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights.
The participants also got acquainted with the requirements for the documentation required to participate in the accession negotiations.
Under the Ready4Trade project, Central Asia, the European Union and the World Trade Center have joined forces to contribute to the overall sustainable and inclusive economic development of Central Asia by stimulating intra-regional and international trade.
