Expanding partnerships in emergency preparedness

As part of the expansion of the bilateral partnership, the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan (NRCS) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding and an Emergency Action Program Document.

The signing of these two documents provides for the cooperation of the parties within the framework of their mandate and competencies in emergency situations in order to meet the needs of the population, while taking into account the interests of children.

Thus, the Memorandum of Understanding provides a joint space for stockpiling and managing reserve stocks of essential supplies to be used by the NRCST and UNICEF in humanitarian situations. The Contingency Program Document is a back-up humanitarian crisis response program that will be activated within 24 hours of its occurrence. It consists of joint activities to provide humanitarian assistance to the population.

These two documents guarantee the availability of basic necessities and framework agreements to meet the vital needs of the population.
