In January-September 2016 enterprises of the Ministry of Communications, including the Closed Joint Stock Company «Altyn Asyr», «Ashgabat urban telephone network» and «Turkmen Hemrasy» obtained operating revenues of more than 1.1 billion manat, which is 4, 5 percent more than in the corresponding period of 2015. According to this indicator, the set programme goal exceeded by 5.5 percent. The volume of sales to the public communication services grew by 1.7 percent.
According to the State Committee of Turkmenistan by statistics, the total income from the sale of services on communication for the period of January-August 2016 amounted to more than 1.7 billion manat and increased by 13.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period of 2015.
By resolving the tasks assigned to the industry by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov it takes consistent measures to diversify multivariate international telephone traffic and data.
Today, Turkmenistan has five joint international backbone fiber-optic communication lines laid in the country - it is Ashhabad- Badjigiran (Iran), Serhetabat- Herat (Afghanistan), Ymamnazar - Akin (Afghanistan), Turkmenabat - Bukhara (Uzbekistan) and Garabogaz - Fetisov (Kazakhstan).
There are two main fiber-optical systems in our country: the circular railroad Ashgabat-Mary-Turkmenabat-Dashoguz-Ashgabat, and the radial one as Garabogaz-Turkmenbashi -Ashgabat-Mary-Turkmenabat-Atamyrat-Ymamnazar, which docked with the network of neighboring countries. Their construction projects are implemented on the basis of DWDM technology - multi-channel optical systems with channel capacity of 100 gigabits per second for passing international transit and local streams.
It is annually increasing length of trunk and intra-cable communication lines with the ability to connect subscribers to broadband Internet. Today, the telecommunications network of our country is operated by more than 800 telephone stations, over 90 percent of which are digital.
More than half of the residential buildings are covered by «fibers towards homes», continues the replacement of physical cables to fiber-optic lines in all localities of the country, thus expanding access to modern high-tech telecommunications services. It is growing number of users of Internet services at high pace. Over the past five years, this figure increased almost 5 times. Each year, the Ministry of Communications increases external internet stream by 30-40 percent.

There is widespread installation of cellular base stations which allows providing high speed data transmission. Today, the territorial zone of covering settlements countrywide is more than 97 percent.
It is laid about 20.5 thousand kilometers of lines in accordance with the framework of the «National Program of President of Turkmenistan on improvement of social and living conditions of the population of villages, settlements, cities in districts and district centers for the period up until 2020», from 2008 to the present time in the regions.
