Ashgabat and Astana will continue to develop the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transport corridor. This is stated in the Joint statement of the Presidents of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, following the results of the state visit of the head of Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan.
The document notes that in order to use the existing potential, the parties express their readiness to intensify cooperation in the transport and communications sector, ensuring the shortest and most effective access to foreign markets.
"The parties will continue to develop the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transport corridor by increasing its attractiveness, as well as working out new routes in order to diversify transport communications," the document emphasizes.
It also noted the need for further development of cooperation in the implementation of rail transportation along the highway "Uzen (Kazakhstan) - Gyzylgaya - Bereket - Etrek (Turkmenistan) - Gorgan (Iran)", considering this route a priority in the implementation of joint projects that ensure the transit of goods through the territory of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
