The first stage of the project of construction of the international railway corridor is completing. The total length of the railway will be 400 km long and will connect Atamyrat-Ymamnazar (Turkmenistan) through Akina-Andkhoy (Afghanistan) with Tajikistan. “Steel Silk Road” of modern history will be a new stimulator of trade relations between the countries of the region and will give a powerful boost to strengthening of the economy as our countries, as well as Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
Railway will be provided three countries as well as countries in the region access to world markets, while at the same time, the highway will boost trade and economic relations between Asia and Europe.
The Asia-Pacific region, such as China and India are developing rapidly, and our country is committed to the establishment of transport links with these and other countries in the Far East, South and South-East Asia. Nearest neighbors have always been our reliable partners, and railway links between Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan all that will contribute to the expansion of international transport infrastructure.
As part of the first stage of the project by the forces of the railway constructionists, the building of the 88-kilometer line of transnational highway has been completed, 85 of them run through the territory of Turkmenistan, and three more are between border points of Ymamnazar-Akina. On the road-railway of Atamyrat Ymamnazar the work was carried out simultaneously for laying power lines, construction of infrastructure facilities at the stations Gulistan-Ymamnazar, which is the construction at this track two major railway bridges. At the same time, at the customs point "Ymamnazar" has been built a terminal for reception, storage and shipping of oil products.
Turkmenistan has considerable experience in the construction of railroads. Thus, by the forces of Turkmenistan railway constructionists Ashgabat-Dashoguz, 200 kilometers of railroad of Atamyrat - Garlyk in the site of Bereket-Serhetyaka of the railway corridor North-South. Here, in particular, is being built mining and processing complex for the production of potash fertilizers, which play an important role in the context of ongoing plans to diversify the national economy, the capacity building of the domestic chemical industry.
In the construction of the transport corridor, including infrastructure facilities, the latest technology have been used, as well as involving various types of equipment from leading manufacturers. The huge investments are made by the state to modernize material and technical base of the sector, improving its management based on modern technologies.
The favorable location of Turkmenistan at a key crossroads of Eurasian continent opens up great perspectives for the effectiveness of its transport potential in global development. Our country is actively pursuing a policy of diversification of transport routes, the region's integration into the global economic environment.
This is evidenced by the establishment of a railway network covering the North and the South as well as Central Asia, the Caspian-Black Sea region.
Therefore, an important link in the international transport traffic between the states of the Asian region aims to become a new steel pipe Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan. Construction of the railway was a significant and timely step towards the comprehensive strengthening of international cooperation.
The priority of the "National Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030" is the advanced development of transport and communication complex capable to fully meet the needs of the economy and population in transport services. The main objectives of this program are the progressive integration into the world transport system, further expanding the national infrastructure.
Taking an active role in the issues of cooperation in this area, including in the framework of the UN and other international organizations, Turkmenistan initiates and together with foreign partners rapidly implement large infrastructure projects, making a significant contribution to the formation of an extensive combined transport infrastructure in regional and transcontinental scale.
