The sea gates of Turkmenistan in the Caspian Sea received the EcoPorts certificate

The international seaport of Turkmenbashy in the Caspian Sea received the EcoPort certificate. The corresponding certificate was presented to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the meeting by the OSCE General Secretary Helga Schmid.

The Turkmenbashy International Seaport, built on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, provides a wide range of modern services to enhance trade links between East and West. The innovative port complex, which provides direct trade and communication access from Asia to Europe, is a strategically important facility aimed at realizing common interests.

The EcoPorts certification is issued by the European Sea Ports Authority (ESPO) and the Ports Environmental Monitoring System (PERS), enabling the use of environmentally friendly digital trading technologies that help ports achieve sustainable development goals and innovate.

EcoPorts international certification will give the sea gates of Turkmenistan on the Caspian Sea the opportunity to integrate into the transport system of Europe. In addition, trainings will be organized to improve the skills of the port staff. EcoPorts certification improves port performance, port management policy, environmental protection and risk management. Currently, more than 30 European ports have EcoPorts status.
