The first «smart» city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan has joined the project «Development of sustainable, green, climate-friendly cities with innovative solutions in the OSCE region». The corresponding certificate was presented to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the meeting by the OSCE General Secretary Helga Schmid, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the opening of a new office of the OSCE Center in the Turkmen capital.

The new city of Arkadag, built on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in one of the beautiful corners of the foothills of the Kopetdag, has all modern amenities for comfortable living and work. At the same time, the «smart city», unique for the region, fully meets environmental standards and harmoniously fits into the environment. The construction of the city in a picturesque place with clean mountain air suggests that all conditions are provided here for the optimal life and work of citizens.

The construction of Arkadag, located 30 kilometers southwest of Ashgabat, began in 2019. According to the plan of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the city of Arkadag, which is assigned the status of a city of state importance by a special Law, will be the first «smart» city in the country with environmentally friendly transport (electric buses and electric cars), «smart» parking lots, solar panels, wind turbines, etc.

Currently, preparations are underway for the opening ceremony of the objects of the first stage of urban development. In the city of Arkadag, the State Archives of the city, a TV channel of the same name, a newspaper and a football club have already been created. By the way, football players of FC «Arkadag» successfully perform in the Football Championship of Turkmenistan.
