The Farab Etrap stretches for 200 kilomtres on the right bank of the Amu Darya River. The ambitious reforms taken place in the region within the years of independence prove the success of the National Programme for improvement of the social and living conditions in villages, settlements, towns in etraps and etrap centres for the period till 2020.

The drinking water production plant with the daily capacity of 25 cubic metres of water was put into operation in the Jeyhun village. The plant supplies water to Jeyhun and Farab.

Among the large social facilities is the Farab sanatorium that replaced the old one within the framework of the Health State Programme. The studies show that sulphide-chloride subterminal water in Farab composes of 32 micro-elements, including iodine, bromine, magnesium, hydrogen sulfide, iron, and other elements, in the content of which water in Farab excels mineral water in such well-known resorts in the CIS as Solvychegodsk, Kashino, Novoizhevsky. A multi-branch medical infrastructure that provides a wide range of services at the level of high international standards was created in the sanatorium.

Much has been done for the further development of sports and health-improving movement. The citizens of the etrap are proud of their wrestlers. Among them are the World Sambo and Goresh Champion, participant of the Olympic Games in London, International master of sports Gulnar Hayibayeva. Gayratjan and Ayna Zaripovs, Marat Orazov, Nesipjan Izbasarov, who are preparing for the 2017 Asian Games, took first places at the world and continental championships in various wrestling events.

The construction of modern schools supplied with multimedia equipment as well as a network of kindergartens in the Jeyhun and Farab villages and on the territory of the Jenda Gengeshlik testifies to the successful implementation of the strategy of innovative education.

Since ancient times, Farab has been famous for the high culture of farming. In 2016, the cotton growers in the Farab Etrap were the first in the country to fulfil their obligations.

It should be noted that putting new railway and highway bridges across the Amu Darya River will offer a powerful incentive to the successive development of the Farab and nearby etraps. These ambitious engineering facilities will become ‘a golden link’ of the international network of transport communications and will play a key role in the accelerated development of the mineral and raw material resources on the right bank of the Amu Darya River.
