A scientific conference dedicated to the World Hepatitis Day was held at the Ashgabat Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases.

The event, organized by the World Health Organization Country Office in Turkmenistan jointly with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, was held in a hybrid format.

Participants of this work were clinicians, infectious disease specialists, laboratory assistants, epidemiologists, therapists and gastroenterologists from five provinces of Turkmenistan and the city of Ashgabat.

Under the theme of "Strengthening prevention measures of viral hepatitis", the conference emphasized the importance of expanding the scope of preventive measures to protect the liver from viral hepatitis and reduce morbidity and mortality due to viral hepatitis.

During the conference, progress in the fight against hepatitis at the global, regional and national levels was reviewed, as well as a new, developed with the support of WHO and approved national protocol for the hepatitis C treatment.

This year, the theme of the World Hepatitis Day — "One Life, one liver" — is dedicated to the importance of protecting the liver against hepatitis for living a long, healthy life.
