16 railway stations with apartment houses will be built on the route of the Bereket-Serhetyaka section of the Gyzylgaya-Bereket-Etrek railway that is an important part of the North-South international transport corridor under construction.

Implementation of the transnational project is carried out based on the Intergovernmental agreement signed between Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran.

The new route will provide an entrance to the Central Asia and the Persian Gulf for the countries of Europe and Asia through the shortest, and the economically sound route. On the other hand, the same opportunity will be provided for transportation of cargos from the countries of the South and South-Eastern Asia, from the coast of the Indian Ocean to the countries of the Northern and Eastern Europe – through Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia.

The Turkmen section of the future steel line is the longest one, it will cross the country from the north to the south. Since the solemn ceremony of launching the construction of the Uzen-Gyzylgaya-Bereket-Etrek-Gorgan (697.5 km) main line starting from Bereket – the center of this route, the start of the construction project of the century has started.

Besides its direct role as an important link of the transport infrastructure of the country, the new railway will become a powerful factor for developing the whole western region that possesses huge natural resources.

Eight one-storey apartment houses will be built at each of 16 new railway stations. A fan depot for diesel locomotive and carriage maintenance will be opened at the Tuver station.

Construction works to be carried out by a Turkish company will start this month. It is planned to put the new facilities into operation in May, 2013.
