The Atrium hall of the State Museum of Fine Arts opened an exhibition of folk and applied arts dedicated to the National Spring Holiday - International Novruz Day. The organizers of the exhibition, the head of the scientific department Maisa Oraeva, and the chief curator Myahri Atdaeva, approached the theme in an original way. They presented the holiday through the creative skillful hands of Turkmen women, who create unique beauty.

The first impression of the exhibition was the abundance of Turkmen national handmade carpets and tapestries, which adorned the exhibition and served as its exhibits. In the center of the hall, there was an exposition - a sachak of festive treats, over which a bowl with wheat seeds towered. The sprouted wheat grains symbolized the arrival of spring in the people's tradition.

It is noteworthy that, in addition to the museum, other organizations also participated in the demonstration of the exhibits of folk and applied arts: the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan, the State Institute of Culture, and two Fashion Houses "Zeynep" and "Nagyshly Guzer". Thanks to them, the visitors admired exquisite jewelry made in traditional folk traditions with elements of modernity, delighted in original ceramic vessels, and with interest examined luxurious women's clothing on mannequins.

"In this exhibition, we wanted to emphasize the strong connection between the past and the present day, whether it is embroidery, carpet weaving, jewelry art or women's attire," says Maisa Oraeva. "We paid special attention to the traditional wedding attire of Turkmen brides. Handicraft, for which Turkmen women have always been famous, finds its embodiment even today. And in organizing the exhibition, we focused precisely on this."

The exhibition also featured master classes on weaving national fabric called keteni, carpets, tapestries, as well as Turkmen embroidery, in which exhibition visitors gladly participated.
